Have Details Ready to Go for Your Photographer

If you’ve heard the expression, it’s the little things that make the big difference – your detail photos can definitely fall into this category! You’re going to want to capture every detail you’ve invested in so you can remember it for years to come! Your details are a part of you! Whether it's small or big, colorful, or plain; they add a touch of beauty that tells your wedding story. So you may be asking, “what details do I need to have ready for my photographer?”

Our team handles well over 200 weddings a year in the Indiana area alone, and we are so comfortable working with timelines and photographers! Most often, your photographer will arrive while our glam team is working our magic. As the bride, you will most likely be in the hair or makeup chair when your photographer arrives. To keep things moving on schedule, it's a great idea to have your details aligned and ready before your photographer gets there. Every photographer might be a little different, but there are lots of details that can be arranged beforehand! We’ll give you a list to look at:

Wedding Details for the Bride

  • Dress/ Shoes/ Jewelry (earrings, necklace, etc)

  • Your engagement ring and wedding band

  • Veil/ Headpiece

  • Bouquet

  • Full invitation suite

  • Perfume/ ring box/ extra flowers/ stamps/ wax seal/ wedding clutch bag

  • Anything that's special or meaningful to you that you want to be photographed

Wedding Details for the Groom

  • Tie/ bow tie/ Pocket Square/ Suspenders/ Special socks

  • Special cuffs links/ watch or any accessory you’ll be wearing

  • Any jewelry (necklace, earrings, bracelets)

  • Boutonniere

  • Cologne

  • Anything that’s special or meaningful to you that you want to be photographed

Of course, you don’t need to have every single detail listed on here. With that being said, here are 5 tips that will get you prepared and ready for your details.

  1. Speak with your photographer, ask them what detail recommendations would be needed for the wedding day. It's important that you discuss this prior to the wedding day, so nothing feels rushed or forgotten.

  2. Get a designated hanger for your wedding attire! It doesn’t need to be customized or extremely fancy, but a simple wooden hanger or solid color will set your pictures for success

  3. Start collecting your details at least a week before your wedding day in a box, bin, or basket, so you have everything in one place.

  4. On your wedding day, place your details box somewhere in the getting ready room.
