Choosing Your Glam
Finding the right products and makeup that is best suited for your skin tone can be frustrating. Pinterest, instagram, and Tiktok are covered with makeup trends that change almost daily, and finding something that feels like you can be daunting. From clean girl makeup, latte makeup, pink concealer, pink setting powder, ultra highlight, glossy lip stain, pastel eyeshadow, cloud skin, etc. The list is ever growing and can feel overwhelming. Trust us, we hear you!
Choosing the right makeup can be hard, especially because there’s so many different brands that market a range of color, textures, and formulas. What may work on your friends, may not work for you, and 9/10 this is because the formula isn't right for your skin type or does not compliment your skin tone.
When envisioning your own, unique dreamy glam everyone has a different outlook or comfort level they see themselves in – and that is the beauty of what we do! We want our company to deliver what real women want! To feel included and heard, to truly see themselves as who they are, and to feel like the most beautiful, empowering, and confident women they ought to be.
Some who have been following us since the start, along with our socials have noticed that we feature many different types of real women we worked with along everyday and offer inspiration to help you find the “perfect look”.
Now, lets break it down into categories that best describes you!
Rich Skin Tone
For our beautiful women of color, We find that deep corals, plums, berry mauve, and any rich earthy nudes will enhance your features.
If you have hyperpigmentation, lets normalize it! Hyperpigmentation is so common in women and absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Using a peach/ orange concealer is ideal when color correcting these areas as it cancels any darkness on the skin and topping it with a thin layer of your concealer and foundation should work beautifully.
We love a coral/plum blush on our dark skin babes. Not only do these colors enhance their cheek bones but they add a gorgeous pop of color to the skin. Everyone’s perfect nude lip color is totally different because everyone’s skin and undertones are different. Some people prefer creamy nudes, some prefer pinky nudes, brown nudes – the list is endless! I recommend finding a color that is closest to the shade on the inside of your lips.
Medium Skin Tone
Using liquid liner and volumizing mascara can enhance the rich chocolate or hazel in the eyes of a medium skin tone beauty. Subtle contouring creates angles and lines that will help define your cheekbones and create sharper angles. Adding a pop of color in either your eyeshadows or lips and cheeks will add a touch of drama into your makeup, and a soft pop of sparkle on the center of the lid will create a rounder, more wide-eyed effect you might love! If your hair is dark brown or black, using black eyebrow pencils or gels might be too harsh– switching to a dark brown shade instead allows you to keep the structure you like, while still matching your hair and is less harsh.
Light -Medium Skin Tone
While someone with a deeper complexion can handle dark or dramatic looks without washing them out, our babes with lighter complexions can struggle with dramatic applications! Sometimes it might make you look washed out or overly done. With light colored eyes, choosing neutral tones are always a go to! This allows your application to be soft and balanced, without looking washed out. Staying in the neutral brown family and pinks not only allows your light color eyes to spotlight, but softens your features. A nice warm brown pencil liner to smoke out the outer corner of your eye paired up with Ardells Naked Lashes 420 will make your eyes appear bigger and its a game changer! If you prefer more dramatic looks, we love that for you! Keep the inner corner light and bright with a highlight shade or keep the lid shade a little lighter and deepen your crease to create the drama without it being too heavy.
Fair Skin
When your skin is fair, colors can instantly look dark! You might see a gorgeous brown shadow on a friend of yours and try it on yourself and feel like it’s way too much. We love using a bronzer in your crease color if you’re struggling to find that perfect transition shade. Bronzers come in a wide variety of shades and allow us to find something a little darker than your skin tone without pulling too warm or cool. Champagnes, rose golds, and a sparkly tan shade are beautiful on the lid to create dimension while allowing your light features to shine through. When finding your perfect brow shade, choose a shade darker than your hair so it shows up without looking too harsh. Brown liner or a black shadow pushed into your lashes can create definition and shape without being as harsh as a brown or black – and a nude liner in your water line can allow you to keep your eyes looking wide eyed and fresh!
