Benefits of Extensions

Do you find yourself scrolling through “bridal hair” photos on  Instagram or Pinterest and noticing the photos you fall in love with are styles with thick, voluminous hair?  Well, want to know a secret?

Those are extensions, my dear! That’s right, you heard us loud and clear, Extensions.

You might be asking yourself… “Should I get Hair Extensions?”

Hair extensions are the not-so secret ingredient to most of those stunning bridal hair looks. If you are blessed with lots of voluminous hair but it's shorter than you’d like– you might consider adding hair extensions for length. On the flip side, if you’ve got the length but not the volume, extensions are a game changer! Whether you’re wearing your hair up or down, extensions are great at holding shape and adding that undeniable extra oomph.

We say all that, but wearing extensions is not for everyone– a lot comes down to the desired hairstyle you want to create.

Hair Extensions Add Volume and Thickness

If you’re planning on wearing your hair down or want to give it more drama and glam, there’s no doubt you’ll want your hair to look full. Using extensions to add volume is a great way to achieve more versatility in its fullness while also giving the opportunity to add length. It also incorporates dimension if you’d love a little highlight but don’t want to highlight your natural hair – lots of extensions feature highlighted hair which add color and shine, especially if your wedding hairstyle is boho/ half up/ or incorporates a braid. It adds a nice contrast of low and highlights.

Styling

Not every head of hair will hold a curl all day, and that’s where extensions come in hand. They hold the curl and shape nicely, allowing you to try out more styles that you might have assumed were previously out of reach. Your artist will take extra time to curl your real hair and the extensions before blending them in. This ensures that your natural hair and the extensions are completely blended in for a seamless look and that your hair looks like it's all your own.

There are many different types of extensions to choose from – ranging from clip ins, to tapes, to hand tied, sewn in, and I tip extensions. The decision on which variety to choose is up to you – the main question to ask is: do you plan on wearing these for more than just the wedding day? If yes, exploring a more semi-permanent option would be a great way to go – if not, clip-ins are the tried and true option! We use only what we need to create exactly your style so the pins and hair accessories fit perfectly in your style.

Sending your inspiration photos of the style you're wanting to achieve to our team during your pre-trial consultation is a great way for us to get a feel for your vision and help you determine if extensions are the best way to bring it to life. Installing clip-in extensions also takes some additional time– so it comes in handy to plan for the additional time. Whether your hair is light or dark, finding dimensional, human hair extensions is a great way to uplevel you style while creating the appearance that all that hair is all you!
